4/14/2023 0 Comments Handshaker manual transmisionRhino is typically sprayed thicker because it has significantly less tear strength. Rhino started a nationwide warranty program in October 2006. It will eventually peel off the liner and must be reapplied. Optional UV topcoat is called Rhino Shine. Rhino: (Tuff Grip, used to be called Tuff Stuff) 100% polyurethane, tear strength 145 pli, temp tolerance 175 degrees, uses a cold/low pressure application system, softer at Shore A 92.5 (although gets harder as it oxidizes), gels in 30 to 45 seconds, dries in 45 minutes, cures in 24 hours. I'll point out some differences between LINE-X and Rhino, pick the product that makes you happy. I think that Line X might take a little more of that variable out of the equation. It really depends on the dealer and how conscientious and skilled they are. That's not to say that all Rhino installers are lax. I believe this to be the truth as I have seen Rhino applied in barns. So you may be more likely to get a quality job with Line X. From what I understand, Line-X is a bit tighter on it's franchises & training than Rhino. Getting the right thickness is a bit science and a bit art, since it is a hot, sprayed material. I think that the most important thing is in the prep and application. I would go with Line X again if I were putting in a new liner. 63,000 miles later, it has a few skuffs, but no tears. My current one is a Line-X that I had put in before I ever picked up the truck. The first was a no-name liner and it did fine. I've had sprayed in liners in two different trucks now. It still has a bit of a textured surface. Line X being harder, is a little less tacky. Rhino is a little bit tackier and might help keep things in the bed from slipping. I think that they are both good products. Both are supposed to be sprayed to around 1/4" thickness. There is not much difference in the thickness. As noted above, Line X is a harder material than Rhino.
